The Socheleau family may be newcomers to winemaking, but they’ve wasted no time making their mark. In 2001, Réne Socheleau and his son Philippe swapped apples for grapes, using the proceeds from selling their orchards to purchase Domaine de Deux Vallées in the prestigious Savennières region of the Loire.
They quickly set about transforming the estate, pulling up the existing Sauvignon and Chardonnay vines to plant Chenin Blanc instead. Savennières is fine wine territory for Chenin and produces some of the world's finest and most age-worthy examples.
Made from pure Chenin Blanc, including a portion from Philippe’s prized Savennières vineyards, it brims with crisp apple, ripe pear and lemon notes. Serve well chilled and pour generously. A refreshing solo sipper – and a fine match with grilled fish and salads.
