Grand Vin de l'Epervier is a blend of some of the finest Crus in the Languedoc – from the craggy northern slopes of the Cévennes to the warmer vineyards close to the Med. The precise composition of the wine changes every year; but each vintage aims to be the best. Steal these cuvées away from their origin, blend with others, and the wine must be labelled Vin de France. But this is no humble wine, it’s a powerful red, aged in the finest barrels. We first made Epervier wines in the 1970s, with the help of sparrowhawk Andrée Ferrandiz. Today the mastermind is Mark Hoddy, who has brilliant knowledge of the area and access to the finest grapes. A powerful Grenache, Syrah and Carignan blend, barrel-matured for complexity. Open early and decant.
