The Spirit
Neptunia is a delicious new-release gin from Hendrick's, a 'palace' of spirit production founded in 1999. It lies in the tiny seaside village of Girvan in the southwest corner of Scotland. Each batch makes just 500 litres, so that the Master Distiller, the now legendary Ms Leslie Gracie, has full control of quality and flavour. Her gins are one of kind, smooth and subtley flavoured – a blend of spirit from two different stills. The Bennett steeps the wondrous botanicals in spirit overnight before distillation, while the Carter-Head gently steams them. Ms Gracie is a regular stroller on the beach and her Neptunia captures some of the magic – locally foraged botanicals blended with juniper, cucumber and rose. Cocktail glasses at the ready!
