The Story Behind the Bottle
For a taste of Italy’s finest whites, head to Friuli in NE Italy and Silvio Jermann’s renowned estate. His ancestors came from Austria and Slovenia, then his great grandfather moved in 1881 to Villanova in Italy, on the Austrian border. Silvio Jermann took over the estate in the 1970s, converting his viticulture to organic and always aiming for the very highest quality. He has been praised as an innovator and a visionary and his wines are enjoyed worldwide. This is pure Pinot Bianco – a grape now rarely seen in this part of NE Italy – aged a few months on its lees to lend roundness. With bright apple and melon notes and piercing citrus freshness, the wine is ideal as a freshener or with seafood or trofie pasta with pesto and green beans.
