Flavour Profile
Jim Barry Single Vineyard Kirribilli Cabernet Sauvignon is textbook Coonawarra – all cassis and pencil shavings on the nose, followed by blackcurrant, blackberry, vanilla, liquorice and a whisper of mint. Fine, gravelly tannins round it out beautifully.
Jim Barry is one of Australia’s top wineries, awarded five red stars by Halliday and named Australian Winery of the Year in 2020. The original Jim Barry was a pioneer – just the 17th person to earn an oenology degree from Roseworthy College. He bought his first vineyard in 1959 and helped put Clare Valley on the map with his iconic The Armagh Shiraz.
Today, the estate is run by third-generation winemakers Tom and Sam Barry. Though their roots are in Clare, the family also own vineyards in other prime regions – including the exceptional Kirribilli site in Coonawarra, planted with the region’s star grape, Cabernet Sauvignon.
