The Story Behind the Bottle
"

The southern Rhône is known for producing red wines with richness, warmth and power – and the most recognisable is Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Home to some of France’s most premium blends, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is loved for its bold, sophisticated flavours and Les Jardins de la Livrée is a great example.

The name Châteauneuf-du-Pape dates back to the 1300s, when Pope John XXII, the second pope to reside in Avignon, built a grand summer fortress that gave the area its name – meaning “the Pope’s new castle” – and heavily expanded local vineyards. Les Jardins de la Livrée comes from the historic, family-run Domaine du Père Caboche, headed up by seventh-generation winemaker Émilie Boisson, and is named after the castle gardens enjoyed by the cardinals and pope.

For this rich red, Émilie used grapes from three top vineyards — Les Serres, Barbe d’Asne and La Font du Pape — where the vines average 50 years old. That age brings wonderfully concentrated fruit, and you’ll taste it in every sip. Beautifully smooth, with intense red fruits and a touch of spice, it’s a dream with roast lamb.
