For those who enjoy sumptuous red wines, we’d recommend Pica Zabal Organic – a fine, limited-edition Rioja.
It’s crafted at third-generation Alberto Ramirez’s organic-certified winery. He teamed up with renowned winemaking consultant, Juan-Antonio Leza, and selected only the finest parcels for this plush red wine.
Together, they chose Graciano, top-quality Tempranillo (Rioja’s flagship red grape) and the nearly extinct Maturana Tinto. The last grape is grown only in Rioja and is being ‘rescued’ by growers like Alberto.
Alberto’s high-altitude vineyards lie in the warm and sunny region of Rioja Oriental. This means Pica Zabal is a richer, lusher style than most classic Riojas. In the glass, expect ripe raspberry, blackberry and mulberry aromas layered with chocolate and spice.
A fine glass on its own – but even better alongside game meats or good wedge of cheese.
