The Wine
Here's a Vinho Verde with a refreshing pink twist. Plainas Rosé comes from the village of Mondim de Basto, the highest subregion of the appellation and home to some of Vinho Verde’s finest wines. But as there are only a handful of wineries, these wines remain little known outside of Portugal. That’s all changing thanks to winemaker Francisco Leandro and the team at his family estate, Casa Santa Eulalia. Here, they champion the rarely seen Espadeiro grape, a real hidden treasure and speciality of the region. With a gorgeous berry-pink colour, juicy strawberry and cherry fruit and a mouthwatering crisp freshness, Plainas makes a top aperitif as well as being excellent with seafood, salads or light meat dishes.
