Raíces Rufete 2021

Fruity, fresh and spicy, Raíces Rufete is a top-class red wine from an exceptional cellar, championing Spain’s rare, forgotten grapes.
Born out of the chaos of the pandemic, Raíces Ibéricas winery had a vision: to showcase the best of Spain’s indigenous grapes from each variety's finest region. They believe Spain has a huge wealth of terroirs and ancient, high-altitude vineyards, many of them abandoned and forgotten. So they search them out and every vintage deliver exciting, unique wines.
This new project has already garnered acclaim from critics with Jancis Robinson declaring the winery an ‘exciting newcomer’ in 2020. Rufete is an ancient grape from the Iberian Peninsula that thrives in hot, dry climates with well-drained soil like those found in the Sierra de Salamanca.
Made with grapes from vines that are more than 60 years old and aged in oak barrels for 8 months, this red offers bright red and black fruit, warm spice and lingering freshness. Delicious on its own, it also pairs well with grilled lamb chops, patatas bravas, cured meats and hard cheeses.
