The Story Behind the Bottle

If you’re a fan of the rich, luscious Italian red wines from Puglia, you’re going to love winemaker Angelo Maci’s Selvarossa dei Confratelli Riserva.

Growing up in rural Puglia with his grandfather, Angelo developed a huge love of the land. He trained as a winemaker, then decided his mission was to save the region's ancient vines and winemaking traditions. He wanted farmers to receive proper recompense for the superb quality of their low-yield grapes and so set up Cantine Due Palme, initially with just 15 growers.

Today there are over 1000, and it’s been named ‘Italian Winery of the Year’ five times. Angelo has been named ‘Winemaker of the Year’ twice and won a Lifetime Achievement award.

This is their flagship red – mostly Negroamaro, with a portion air-dried grapes like in a pricey Amarone. A perfect pairing for roast beef, hearty ragù and aged cheeses.
