Flavour Profile
Shaw and Smith began in 1989 when, over a family lunch, cousins Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith decided to realise a long-held dream: to make wine together.
They’re based in Adelaide Hills – the coolest wine region in South Australia, famous for its vibrant Sauvignon Blanc and elegant Pinot Noir. By growing the best possible grapes and managing their vineyards sustainably, Martin and Michael have built an enviable reputation for quality. James Halliday rates Shaw and Smith at 5 Red Stars, signifying “an outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality.”
Shaw and Smith are best known for their benchmark Sauvignon Blanc, but their Pinot Noir is quietly revered by those in the know and featured on top restaurant wine lists.
James Suckling awarded the Shaw and Smith Pinot Noir 2023 an outstanding 93 points, praising its: “Strawberry, orange pastille and red liquorice notes are compressed into a gentle ball of tension by well-placed oak and juicy, sappy freshness.”
Pair with grilled duck breast with cherry sauce, grilled salmon or wild mushroom risotto.
