The Spirit
Based in leafy Chiswick, Sipsmith was the first new copper distillery to open in London for nearly 200 years. That was in 2007 and they had to get an 1893 law changed to do so. The founders were childhood friends Sam Galsworthy and Fairfax Hall, who vowed to make the finest ever London Dry Gin. They were introduced to gin aficionado Jared Brown at a Negroni party and the project took off. First they made a fine, traditional gin with an invigorating lift from fragrant botanicals – bold, complex and super-smooth. Then they crafted gins with exciting twists – orange, coffee, lemon drizzle … all sorts. Now they’ve turned their hand to FreeGlider at less than 0.5%.
