The Story Behind the Bottle
Telmo Rodriguez is a leading name in Spanish wine. He first made his name at his own family’s Rioja estate, the highly awarded Remelluri, but then decided his mission would be to save the near-extinct vineyards and native grape varieties of Spain. He set up a company in 1994 with Pablo Eguzkiza and started exploring Spain. So far, they’ve worked with 350 vineyards and 43 grape varieties! Gaba is a beautifully fresh, silky expression of Mencía, a red grape that thrives in the Atlantic-cooled Valdeorras region of NW Spain, producing a wine with crisp red fruits. This is pure Mencía, gently fermented to bring out the bright red fruit, silky texture and lively character of this fine wine. Serve on the cooler side to bring out its character.
