Tyrrell's Old Hillside Hunter Valley Shiraz 2023

Australia is the home of bold, fruity Shiraz that is packed with juicy fruit flavours. Tyrrell’s Old Hillside is a vibrant red wine from the Hunter Valley that offers a brighter view of this Aussie powerhouse.
Tyrrells is one of the most famous names in Australian wine. Founded in 1858 in the Hunter Valley, five generations later they still produce some of the country's finest wines. They are renowned for the world's best Semillon and produce many other wines with legendary status. Their list of awards includes Australia’s Best Winery, Winery of the Year 2010, Winemaker of the Year twice in 2004 and in 2009, 14 out of 19 Trophies at the Sydney Show and many more!
In 1993, Bruce Tyrrell struck a deal with the Stevens family, giving them access to the fruit from the Old Hillside vineyard, including those from the discreet block that contains the oldest still-producing Shiraz vines in New South Wales. Known as the ‘Old Patch’, it was planted in 1867, making it nearly 150 years old! The rest of the vines are not quite as mature as this, with an average vine age of 50 years. After many years of friendship and partnership, the Old Hillside vineyard was purchased by the Tyrell family in 2017.
Old Hillside Shiraz is made with grapes from the vineyard’s younger vines, creating bright, lifted aromas of ripe red fruit, with richer, earthy undertones. The palate brings more fruit, offering oodles of raspberry and cranberry, with mineral hints and a long, silky finish. Bright and elegant, this red wine is a perfect partner for robust dishes like roast lamb, venison or aged cheeses
