Flavour Profile
A rich, velvety red wine filled with juicy dark fruit, Un Vent de Folie 100+ comes from talented winemaker Jean-Charles Duran.
If you’re already a fan of Jean-Charles’s Un Vent de Folie from the Roussillon, you’ll know that the poor soils and windswept slopes in this part of France produce immensely powerful red wines.
Jean-Charles has a few rows of prized 100+ year-old vines within the prized Maury Sec region and with these grapes he makes a very special barrel-aged wine he calls his 100+. It’s an intensely concentrated, old-vine Grenache and Carignan all from his century-old vines, barrel aged in fine French oak for up to two years. Yields are minute, which is partly due to drought conditions as well as the age of the vines.
Velvety smooth and lusciously rich, 100+ is filled with concentrated black cherry, plum and damson fruit, with hints of wild herbs and gentle oaky spice. This is a wine to enjoy slowly, ideally with a rich game stew.
