English Quality Sparkling Wine

Not content with being bassist in one of Britain's most successful Britpop bands, Alex James became a cheesemaker and is now behind this terrific English fizz. Made from classic grapes and by the traditional method, it's creamy, long and toasty.

The Wine
Bassist in top Britpop band Blur, Alex James had a passion for food and wanted to make a difference. He moved to a farmhouse in the Cotswolds and began to make artisan cheeses. Then, delicious local tipples – first Britpop cider and now this exceptional English sparkling wine. He's joined forces with an award-winning estate and winemaker and the outcome is Britbop Brut. It's a classic blend of Champagne grapes – 40% each of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, plus Pinot Meunier – all grown on chalky soils on the Jurassic coast. Aged on lees, with the secondary fermentation in bottle, just like Champagne, it has floral, peach notes and a nutty, biscuity complexity. Just the ticket for fun and celebration.

Absolutely beautiful. Really impressive, better than some champagne twice the price.
