The Wine
Former paratrooper, then wine broker Jacky Blot fell in love first with the wines of Montlouis, buying Domaine de la Taille aux Loups in 1989, then Bourgueil purchasing Domaine de La Butte in 2002. In both he has shown the world just how good the wines of each appellation can be, every vine painstakingly cared for organically. Jacky died in 2023, passing on his winemaking passion to his son Jean-Philippe. Like his dad, he works meticulously in the chalky-soil vineyards to ensure only the finest berries make it into the wines, while the cellar is a cavernous, ex-troglodyte dwelling hewn out of chalk rock, housing many well-used barrels. Pure Cabernet Franc, the wine exudes dark fruits, strawberry, red pepper and sappy freshness. A beauty.
