The Wine
Marlborough's Forrest estate was founded in 1988, one of the first in the region. That was by two doctors – John and Brigid. Both very scientifically grounded, they have over the years pioneered many things – including the introduction of Albariño to the region and screwcaps, for which John is a passionate advocate. A man with a big presence and unbounded energy (he needs it!), John has been the winemaker from the start, while his daughter Beth, after a stint abroad, is now taking up the reins in the cellar. John's experimentation continues, nonetheless, a great scientist winemaker with an insatiable curiousity! John is very proud of his Albariño, grown on the greywacke stones of the old riverbed. You can taste that in the wine's freshness.

Loved this. Peachy with lemon/lime zip and a saline tang, classic albarino. Excellent!
