Le Prélat de Pape Clément 2018
Graves AOC
Loading...
Le Prélat is an earlier drinking Graves red from the Grand Cru Classé estate of Château Pape Clément, one of the region's oldest properties. With a higher portion of Merlot, half aged in new oak, it’s serious, yet is already very approachable.

The Wine
The first grape harvest at Château Pape Clément was in 1252. It’s one of the region’s oldest estates, named after Pope Clement V who was the first to start wine cultivation there. Since 1985 it has been the property of the world-renowned Bernard Magrez, owner of 42 domaines. Magrez tells how he left school at 16 with a qualification in sawing wood, with no connection to Bordeaux. At 19 he discovered the region and its wines, joining a négociant and by 23, had started his first company. Château Pape Clément is a fine Graves Grand Cru Classé estate. Le Prélat is an earlier drinking taste of the Grand Vin, with a high percentage of Merlot and aged 14 months in half new oak barrels. With 7 years’ age, it’s drinking well. Ideally decant.
