Flavour Profile
Oastbrook White Pinot Meunier is made by owner and winemaker of Oastbrook Estate, America Brewer. Brazilian by birth, she remembers an old vine that used to stretch up the side of the house. When the grapes were ripe, she used to climb up and feat them.
She later discovered she had English ancestors, so feels right at home in the Rother Valley of deepest Sussex, where she lives with her winemaker-husband, Nick Brewer. The buildings are a beautiful old oasthouse, formerly used by Guinness to dry hops. Bringing a touch of her Brazil to Sussex, America planted vines up the side of her home and discovered how well they grew.
Encouraged by friends, she enrolled at Plumpton wine college, planted a vineyard in 2018, and now makes fabulous, award-winning wines. This is her pure Pinot Meunier, very rare to find, that has gained much critical acclaim. Just 500 bottles are made and as Matthew Jukes exclaimed, “what a wine”. It really sings with red fruit aromas, offers a lush creamy texture and a pink peppercorn spice finish. A delight with panfried fish or ceviche.
