The story of Pecorino is a remarkable one. In the 1980s, it was almost extinct when a tiny vineyard was discovered by a man named Guido Cocci Grifoni who was researching local grape varieties in the region. He took some cuttings and just 30 years later it has become the fastest growing white grape variety in Italy. Borgo Thaulero Pecorino comes from hillside vineyardsin the province of Chieti, the climate is heavily influenced by the Apennine mountain range and the Adriatic Ocean which keep the whites zippy and fresh. This refreshing white was made by Casal Thaulero, founded by a group of local wine growers in 1961Crafted from 100% Pecorino, a grape that we’re delighted to see is becoming increasingly fashionableUnoaked, the focus is on zippy, fresh fruits with a delicate florality and issure to be appreciated by Sauvignon Blanc fans. A pale gold colour with lovely aromatics of exotic fruit, white flowers and wild herbs. Appetisingly crisp and dry with white peach flavours and a twist of citrus on the refreshing finish.
