Domaine Georges Lignier is a third-generation family domaine with enviable vineyards holdings, including the largest share of Grand Cru Clos Saint Denis. The family has a total of 16 hectares of vines, dotted over 50 premium parcels throughout Burgundy. Having worked 6 years with his uncle, in 2008, Georges's great-nephew Benoît Stehly took charge of winemaking at the estate, "since which time the wines have become finer and finer" (Jancis Robinson MW), "the essence of the (Pinot Noir) grape" said Serena Sutcliffe MW. Benoît is very attentive in the vineyard, encouraging biodiversity, with grass between the rows to encourage competition, prevent erosion and retain moisture. A very fine Pommard, let it breathe before serving, or cellar.
