Made by the Laudun Chusclan winery on the river’s right bank, the grapes all hail from vineyards around the village of Chusclan and its beautiful medieval castle, Château de Gicon. There, its large pebble-stone terrain – very similar to that of nearby Châteauneuf-du-Pape – produces gorgeous ripeness in the grapes and warm, luscious fruit and spice in the wine. It’s an irresistible Côtes du Rhône which handily comes in a 3-litre box.
