Fernando Alguiera 'Dolio' 2021

But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

Fernando Alguiera ‘Dolio’ is from Ribeira Sacra, a stunning mountainous region in Galicia, northern Spain. Wine was made here over 2,000 years ago but, sadly, due to the impact of the Spanish Civil War, its vineyards were abandoned.
Fernando González discovered the region in 1979 and set up an estate on the slopes rising from the Sil River. He revived the abandoned vineyards and now has 30 hectares of beautifully terraced vines, some as steep as 60°.
This is his remarkable 95-point Mencía and Brancellao blend, grown on schist and slate soils. Georgina Hindle of Decanter awards the wine 95 points and writes: “Sweet cherries with dried plums and incense and ash. Lovely clarity and focus on the palate.”
