Flavour Profile
Pinot Noir is notoriously finicky. And while it’s often found in the fine reds of Burgundy, it also thrives in Germany, producing delicious, complex reds at a surprising approachable price – as Von Reben shows.
Crafted by the award-winning Rietburg cellar, now led by talented Barbara Steffes, the grapes come from Pfalz, one of Germany’s top wine regions. Sheltered by the Haardt mountains, Pfalz is one of Germany’s warmest and driest areas which helps grapes to ripen fully.
In the cellar, a gentle handling approach and minimal oak preserve the grape’s natural character. The result? Delicate, light berry fruit – think raspberry, cherry and blackberry – with a lovely silky edge. Best served lightly chilled or at room temperature, it’s perfect with roast chicken, pasta dishes, or simply on its own.
