Fable Mountain Vineyards was founded in 2000. In 2010, it purchased, with help and investment from Screaming Eagles founder Charles Banks, by husband and wife Paul Nichols and Rebecca Tanner. Since that moment, it has begun to realise its immense potential. Indeed, a number of its wines regularly receive the top 5 red stars from John Platter. They grow only red grapes in their organic and biodynamic Tulbagh vineyards, keeping Nguni cattle, Merino sheep and a handful of unruly pigs to provide manure for composting. The animals are allowed to graze the vine rows during winter. Mourvèdre is a prized Rhône grape that has performed spectacularly well here to lend almost Burgundian elegance. Silky, with sour cherry fruit and herbal freshness.

"An exciting find – mature, mellow Mourvèdre from this out-of-the-way estate. Pinot Noir complexity" Becca Reeves
