The Story Behind the Bottle
The Van Zeller family has been making Port since 1715, with 15 generations passing on tradition. Alvaro van Zeller, one of Portugal’s most respected winemakers and former Head of the Port Wine Institute, created Baronesa de Vilar LBV in honour of his grandmother. LBV offers the richness of Vintage Port but does all its ageing in barrel, so it is ready to enjoy sooner. Hand-picked grapes were foot-trodden in granite lagares, then aged four years in oak before Alvaro personally selected the final blend. Unfiltered for depth, it brims with black fruits, dark chocolate, violet and spice. Ready now, but with ageing potential, it’s a classic with Stilton or to savour alone.
