The Story Behind the Bottle
One of Saint-Estèphe’s oldest properties, Château Tronquoy-Lalande is today the property of the Bouygues brothers, owners of next-door £100-a-bottle Château Montrose. Back in 2015, Tronquoy-Lalande also shared the same winemaker – the late, great Jean-Bernard Delmas, winemaker at First-Growth Haut-Brion for 40 years. 2015 was a glorious vintage and with 10 years’ ageing, this oozes class with blackberries, plums, hints of dark chocolate and a plush, velvety mouthfeel. Awarded 94 points by James Suckling – “Aromas of blackberries, licorice and spices. Full-bodied, dense and layered. Shows the structure and muscle of this estate … Serious.”
