The Wine
Beaujolais is making a comeback – thanks to great family domaines like this one. Maison Dominique Piron was founded during the reign of Louis XIII. Today, it has 95 hectares across the region’s top villages, including a small plot in Beaujolais’ youngest cru, Régnié, in the heart of the region. Dominique Piron was the 14th generation to fun the family’s historic 16th-century estate. With no heirs to pass it on to, he teamed up with old friend Julien Revillon. Julien continues the legacy – with a vision to make Beaujolais as fine as any cru Burgundy. It’s already turning heads, having been awarded 91 points by Decanter. Expect dark cherry aromas with red fruit, violet and blueberry flavours. A fine match for roast chicken or charcuterie.
